Costa Rica Sport Fishing Charters

Los Suenos Marina is the home port for a fleet of over 30 licensed charter vessels that specialize in big game sport fishing. The waters off of the resort are considered one of the prime billfishing grounds in the world. Pacific sailfish are abundant, while large black and blue marlin are caught on a daily basis. Meat fish such as yellow-fin tuna, wahoo and dorado are plentiful year-round. In-shore fishing enthusiasts will have plenty of opportunities to try their luck at catching the spectacular roosterfish. In fact, specimens of up to 90 pounds have been caught in these waters!

Costa Rica Luxury Rentals staff are happy to customize a charter to best meet your needs. Full-day and half-day fishing tours are available on vessels ranging from 21 to 65 feet. We can also arrange for non-fishing charters for day trips to Isla Tortuga and Montezuma, as well as sunset cruises.

Type of fishing: On a regular half day charter, the charter boat will go for inshore fishing: mahi mahi, yellow fin tuna, snappers, mackerel, rooster fish.

On a full day fishing charter, they will go for sailfish and marlin, trolling along the way for mahi mahi and tuna.

Full day fishing trip goes from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Includes: breakfast and lunch, drinks, fishing tackle and bait.

Half day fishing trip goes from 7:30 a.m. until noon or from noon until 4:30 p.m. Includes only breakfast, drinks, fishing tackle and bate.

For sailfish a full day trip is recommended. The run to the fishing point takes around 1.5 hours and there is not enough time in a half day to do so.

Normally when you are going inshore fishing (half a day) it would depend of the tide, the best times are full tide or when the tide is dropping.

Fishing licenses ($24 per person,are available at the dock every morning) and crew gratuity are not included.

Transportation to the dock, from the Resort can be arranged.

Like most Mikelsons, the 64' is ideally rigged for sportfishing - from the two immense bait wells in the cockpit, to the luxurious bridge with dual helm stations.

The Mikelson 50 has become well known for its comfort and long range capability since this model's introduction in 1988 and it's a great choice for fishing the waters of Costa Rica.

Whether the goal is to cruise for an afternoon or several days at a time, fishermen will find that this vessel offers an exceptionally stable platform - thanks to a design that balances the engine weight and fuel tank distribution to keep a perfect trim and balance as she plys the waters with grace. The reverse shear built into the transom provides spray-free backing down and ample lift in following seas.

The fully equipped sportfishing cockpit features a teak deck and an opening transom gate that leads out to a big, wide swim platform. A large bait tank is built into the center of the transom, and it comes with lighting and views windows, giving the effect of a giant aquarium.
